Leaving The Boys

I have a hard time leaving the boys. I always have. As they get older it does get a bit easier, or more bearable, I guess, but it is always hard. The hardest part for me are the last days leading up to whatever trip I have planned away from them.

I don't leave them very often, if I travel they tend to go along with me, but I have left them a few times now-- most notably two years ago when Courtney, Julia, and I went to Rome. While in Rome we started talking about taking another trip together for Courtney's 40th birthday-- fast forward two years and we were headed to ARUBA!

More about that trip on the next post. The day before I headed out of town, the boys and I went out to paint pottery. We had so much fun. I love planning activities and outings with them and I love it when they really have a good time with whatever we are doing that day.

We had a really good day! Carver was a bit weepy every time we talked about me going out of town and being away for a week....Carson didn't seem too concerned. Bu,t when I left, the boys were completely fine. My trip was amazing and I was thrilled to get back home to them :)

The Biltmore House

A couple of weeks ago the boys and I headed to the Biltmore Estate for the day. It was probably one of the best days we have had there. The crowds were low, the boys were (fairly) pleasant, and the weather was warm but beautiful. I really love having Biltmore passes.

Carson was absolutely fascinated by the Blacksmith.

Summer Florida Trip (Part 3)

The boys wanted to see Jenny (and Bear) so we headed over for a quick visit.

Just hanging out at Grandmama and Granddaddy's house is one of their favorite things to do in Florida. They like to play "blocks and army men" with Grandmama. They love to ride these cars. They love to swim and play outside. They love visiting Aunt Ginger and Uncle Dwight. And the love love love feeding the goats and cows.

Since we have annual passes, we headed back to Legoland for one more day.

He was oh so thrilled to get his face painted.

On the drive home we did stop in South Carolina to spend the night. The hotel was kind of old but in good condition, it was off of a quiet exit and we were able to walk across the street to eat dinner at Cracker Barrel. Then we headed to the pool for a bit before bed. These random hotel stays really are one of my favorite things to do with the boys. I hope they have fond memories of things like this as they get older.
