Spring Break 2015

For our Spring Break this year, my parents headed up to spend some time with us! We always stay busy when we are with my family.

Chimney Rock with the Family

One of the things I love about moving back to Asheville is that we have a bit more opportunity to do things as a family, just the four of us. Daniel is off most weekends and the mountains offer a lot of options for outings.

On a Saturday in March we decided to take the boys to Chimney Rock. When we arrived we were told that the elevator to the top of the mountain was not working but we went in anyway and headed up the mountain. All I can say is...never again. Never.Again. There were about a million stairs up to the top. I was dying. The boys did tolerably well, but we had to carry them periodically (which for me meant walking about 5 stairs while holding one boy, then stopping for a rest. It took FOREVER).

The weather was gorgeous and the views were incredible. It was strenuous, but fun, and oh so worth it. We did an additional short hike before we left the park and then headed to lunch near Lake Lure.

We left with an annual pass so I'm praying that elevator starts working soon :)

March Phone Dump

Dr. Seuss week at Montreat Morning School. Carver was Horton, from Horton Hears a Who. I must say, I was rather proud of this costume.

Sometimes Carson won't sleep in his room. And I have to work. So...he sleeps on the couch while I am grading papers and answering emails.

One day, while sitting on our back deck in a quick moment of blissful solitude, Cargy comes and knocks on the backdoor and when I open it he says, "The fish is on the counter!" And, sure enough, the FISH IS ON THE KITCHEN COUNTER. Cargy had pulled a chair in from the dining room, found a measuring cup in the drawer, and scooped the poor fish out. So, I snatched the fish up and dumped him back in the bowl and prayed that he would live. And he did. So the next day, in a fit of guilt, we went to PetSmart and bought the fish a new, bigger, and better home...

Carver made an Angry Birds creation...and wanted to take a picture of me with it.
