Family Trip to the Dominican Republic (August 2022)

Where do I even begin? This trip with HUGE for us. It was our first trip out of the country together and one of my bucket list vacations for the boys-- staying at an all-inclusive resort.

It was incredible getting to take them to another country and experience it all together. Traveling as a family has become one of my absolute favorite things to do together. We've made sacrifices to be able to make traveling several times a year a priority and I am so thankful that Daniel goes along with my plans.

We were all a little sick with a terrible cold that the boys brought home from camp with them. But we still managed to have the best time.

We had dinner reservations at a different place each night!

A couple hours after dinner, Carson and I needed a snack so we headed to the buffet restaurant and they had a chocolate fountain!

I bought a ring from a random man with a stall of goods. It is a stone unique to the Dominican Republic. Is it real? Unlikely. Did I pay too much for it? Absolutely. I consider it supporting the local economy.

Carver needed regular breaks in the room, so Carson and I did a good bit of exploring on our own. He was pretty nervous about sitting at a "bar" to get a drink 😅

There were A LOT of cats around-- and kittens too!

Another dinner at a fun restaurant!

This Amazon dress was fun for the trip.

We took one excursion away from the resort and we had the best time. We were on the side of the island that didn't have the beautiful blue clear water, and we definitely wanted to see that. So we took a bus tour, went on a catamaran to an island, swam in the gorgeous water and then headed back to the resort. It was a long day but so much fun.

Carson got a bit of sunburn this day.

Buffet lunch on the island.

The water was truly spectacular.

This peacock was definitely a highlight of the entire week.

Outfit for dinner after the long day not the excursion. We were too exhausted for a lot of pictures, but I love this dress!

Buffet breakfast!

We spent a couple of days at the water park that was part of the resort. There were pools and water slides, and a lunch buffet set up each day.

We ate FAR too many of these ice cream cones.

Our last night was our favorite dinner at a Japanese steakhouse!

The next day we packed up and headed to the airport.

I am so incredibly thankful for this trip. It went smoothly and really fulfilled a big wish I had to take the boys to an all-inclusive beach resort one day. We did it and it was amazing 😊

Hanging with Koko.

Felix will climb into anything new.

I grew my first cucamelon!

We love visits with Hercules.

Family time before and after Strong Rock.

Will got baptized at the end of camp. I loved that all of us got to be there for us. It was emotional and beautiful. I am so proud of this nephew of mine. And this picture of him and Bailey hugging after is one of my all time favorite pictures. It reminded me of how close Lyle and I were at this age.

A few pictures from camp!

Nibble Nook with the cousins!

We met Courtney, Darin, and Hadley for dinner before they picked up Whitney from Crestridge!

Found Bentley sleeping with Carver one night before I went to bed.

Carson made this for me one day!
