In January we planned a trip to Breckenridge with our best travel friends, Courtney, Darin, Whitney and Hadley!
We went to Breckenridge about 13 years ago before we had kids, and we were so excited to go back with the boys. This is Daniel's idea of a dream vacation, and it was fun to get to do something he was so thrilled about. The boys have been slowly learning to ski and it was really great to get to take them to Colorado to ski!
This was the first "big" trip we have taken the boys on, and the furthest they had ever been from home. All in all, it was a spectacular trip with a ton of pictures taken so here we go....
First up-- flight to Denver! It was a longer flight than the boys have ever done, and they were great! The required masks were an unfortunate part, but we managed.
We picked up our rental car--- Daniel chose something fun, and the boys were pretty excited!
We stopped for snacks on the way to the hotel and the sweetest lady working at the gas station gave Carson a bunch of goodies. He was THRILLED with his Circle K hat :)
Colorado is STUNNING. Pictures can't really show it. But we had gorgeous views for the whole trip.
First night dinner was at a Mexican restaurant we walked to from our hotel.
Skiing was on the agenda for the first (full) day, of course. We enrolled the boys in ski school for the day, so I walked them over and picked them up. I spent a few glorious hours in the cozy hotel room by myself and loved every minute of it.

On the second night we got ready and headed to The Canteen for dinner.
Day 3 we all got layered up to take ski lessons-- Courtney, me and the kids. We booked a private lesson for just us. It was my first time skiing, and the first time for the little girls. Courtney had tried one time before I think.
Everyone did a great job! Except for me. I hated every single minute of it.
I cannot even describe how much I loathed it. I was terrible at it. Fell constantly. Could barely get back up. Quite possibly one of the most miserable experiences of my life.
Never. Again.
I will happily go on as many ski trips as the boys would like. But I will never again strap on a pair of skis.
Heading to dinner on night 3! We ended up at a Thai restaurant and we LOVED it.
Then we got the most incredible cookies ever...
Taking Carson to the hot tub. This time, just him :)

On day 4 we headed to see the incredible ice sculptures. We managed to be there at just the right time to see these during both of our Breckenridge trips!
Then we ate lunch at a fun spot and did a little souvenir shopping. Carson loves shopping, possibly his favorite part of the trip. 😂
The highlight of the entire trip for me was on the afternoon of Day 4 when we went snowmobiling!! Courtney and I did this excursion when we were here years ago, but I was mostly too scared to drive and let her do all of the driving. This time, we had four adults and four kids, so I had to drive. I had been so nervous about it but it ended up being so much fun. Highly recommend this activity!!!
After getting back from snowmobiling we just ate dinner at the hotel restaurant and called it a night. This was our final night in Breckenridge. The next morning we went on a gondola ride before heading to the airport. It was the perfect way to end the trip!
This was such a big memory-making trip for us. I have so, so many things I want to do with the boys. And so, so many places I want to take them. I hope I get to cross some things off my travel bucket list with them. Having kids just makes everything better 💗😊
