The BIG Day

Lyle's wedding day was much anticipated by all of us. There were a lot of emotions going into it...the last three years have been full of big feelings for all of us. I think one day I'll probably write about all of that here. But today is not that day-- because this post is all about Lyle and Melissa. And the pictures, in this case, really do say far more than I could ever say about this day. It was magical in a lot of ways. Despite the intense heat of the day, it was lovely and relatively low stress. And it was sweet and it was ultimately a day made up of dozens of tiny moments and big moments that altogether created a day that was just what our family needed. I think it was perfect for Lyle and Melissa-- I hope it was. Melissa did a great job planning a beautiful day and it was just fun. Lyle's kids were happy and healthy and sweet and just good. So good.

Lyle is happy. And lucky. Melissa is great... and amazing with the kids. She is already someone I feel close to and I am so very very glad she is part of our family. What a blessing she is. I hope she feels the same way about us.

And, on to the big day...

Melissa's wedding photographer did an amazing job. Seriously, amazing. (Heather Chipps Photography). Check out her blog post here: http://heatherchippsphotography.com/melissa-lyle-a-sorella-farms-wedding/

I think this is my overall favorite. Absolutely gorgeous.

Pre- Wedding Festivities

We arrived in VA in time for me to get to spend part of the day (our birthday) with Lyle-- hooray!

Jump! with the cousins.

We stayed at the Inn at Sweet Briar College and our family took over an entire wing of one part of the inn. It was the perfect space for the kids to get to pretty much run free and wild.

Rehearsal at the venue.

Rehearsal dinner at Lyle's and Melissa's new house--- the house is gorgeous, by the way :)

Hair and make-up took pretty much all day and involved fake eyelashes. It was oddly entertaining.

The venue was gorgeous!
