Here are some highlights of happenings from the last month:
1) Attitude: Oh yes, the precious bundle of joy develops more and more attitude every day. He has become a little feistier these last few weeks. He definitely has a strong will, can be super sensitive, dramatic, etc. He can be both charming and incredibly frustrating. Affectionate or (slightly) aggressive. He's a series of contradictions, like most of us are.
2) Teeth!-- the 4th on the bottom just broke through, bringing the grand total up to 8.
3) Walking constantly now, he rarely crawls. He is still fairly unsteady but gets better every day.
4) Weight: 23 1/2 lbs. Wearing 12-18 month clothes.
5) Still taking bottles, but I think he is slowly starting to get better with sippy cups... We're working on it.
6) Food: Carver is eating some "real" food now. Not a lot but he has recently started eating some pasta, cheese, and cooked vegetables. He still prefers crunchy foods like puffs, goldfish, crackers, etc.
7) Sleeping: 2 naps a day (usually); sleeps 12 hours at night. Finally.
8) Talking: current favorite word is "delia" or "lea"-- or his own variation of these. He rarely says mama, but he will say dada. Lately if you ask him a question, (Carver, do you want a cracker?) he will say "yeah," which I am trying to turn into him saying "yes" since that sounds so much more polite.
9) He loves to laugh, hug, and climb all over us.
10) Transitioned from formula to milk, no problems at all.
11) Favorite activities: opening and closing doors, removing the covers from our floor vents, unloading the shelves in his bedroom, pushing his toys around the house (the larger ones with wheels), exploring the rooms we usually keep off-limits (bathrooms, kitchen, etc), throwing all of his toys out of baby jail, tormenting Winston, and using Winston as a stepping stool to climb up on the couch.
(See the red spot at the bottom of the picture? That is poor baby Winston. Carver climbed onto him and then onto the couch with the girls. He was super pleased with himself, I don't think the girls were particularly amused...)
12) Last week he "helped" daddy pack for his trip to Colorado.
13) Dilemma: How to keep Carver from eating his entire crib. It started with just a couple of bite marks. So, we bought crib rail covers. Carver quickly learned how to remove them. Then he chewed a deep hole in the side of the crib railing, he probably ate a good amount of wood in the process. Solution: Daniel placed towels secured with zip ties over the sides of the crib, and replaced the plastic crib rail covers on the front, now also secured with zip ties. Chances of using this crib for future children? Unlikely.
