Girls weekend with my absolute favorite friends...

Back in March a picture popped up in my Facebook "memories" of the trip to Savannah that Brooke, Mandy, Amanda and I took two years ago. Then, after a small flurry of activity, we had booked a beach trip for the following month! At the time, making a quick trip to Panama City Beach seemed like a fine idea-- in reality it was a really long long way to go for two nights.

But worth every single minute in the car. It was the BEST weekend. There is something so refreshing about being with those three. These friendships that have lasted for thirty years and about a million ups and downs and big life changes. They are just the best example of when friendships last so long and go so deep that family is the only way to describe it. We are family. Similar in some ways and so very different in others. But with them, I never have to explain anything from my past. Because they were there, each and every step. They have seen me at my best and my absolute worst. They are fully loyal to me but will speak hard truths when I need to hear it. Each of them are some of the best moms a know, and they make me want to try harder and do better with my boys. They are funny and kind and generous and crazy, and they are my best friends. I am so lucky to have them in my life.

I headed out on a Thursday afternoon to drive to Atlanta to stay the night. I like road trips, especially when I travel alone (which is basically never), but I was super exhausted that day. Coffee helps most things.

Mandy met me in Atlanta so we could set off early the next morning. I include a picture of our random hotel room because it had the best bed ever. Literally, I could have slept for days. The room was cold and dark and the bed was perfect

This is our stuff...Not all of ours, just mine and Mandy's. It is insane what a terrible job I do at packing. I think it is because I can't make decisions.

The view from out hotel room. The first day was a bit windy and cloudy, but it was still a nice evening. We went to Publix for dinner stuff and then stayed around the hotel for the rest of the day. We walked on the beach and ate dinner and stayed up late talking. It was perfect.

Day 2 weather was great-- a mix of clouds and sun. A little warm but not hot at all. We spent the entire morning on the beach, ate lunch back in our room, and then spent a few more hours on the beach before heading in to get ready for dinner.

I spent way too long watching this seagull who was missing a foot. I might have fed him extra snacks too...

We took lots of pictures before dinner. It was the only time we were actually dressed and presentable. Most of the weekend was bathing suits, no make-up, and beach hair.

Of course, the day we left was GLORIOUS.

Mandy and I rode from Atlanta and back together and it was a nice time to get to catch up on life. It made the excessively long drive so worth it.

We are hoping to make these girls' trips a yearly (or so) tradition. I'm already looking forward to it-- but next time the Florida girls are driving north :)

Carver's first game! He tried so hard in every game.

Carson refused to participate in his first game...
