Nature Day! (August 2017)

Along with the minor holidays, themed days are one of my favorite things. I try to plan a couple of themed days every summer and one we have done several times is "Nature Day." I like it because it gets the boys outside, it is pretty easy to execute without any elaborate plans or supplies, and the boys seem to really enjoy it.

There are so many mom things I don't do well. At all. But this whole crafting, planning, themes, and prepping stuff-- I got this. And I really enjoy it too :)

All the prepping complete (very late at night) and ready to go for the next day.

Making caterpillars out of pom poms.

And bugs out of paper in different colors and shapes.

Bird feeders!

Watching the eclipse.

Making trail mix.

Heading out on our hike/nature scavenger hunt.

He found a painted rock. He was SO thrilled.

I love these days with the boys. They are my favorite. Favorite people and favorite days. I couldn't ask for more.

Taking the boys and the neighbor kids to the movies.

One day Becky and I took the kids to the Cradle of Forestry in the Pisgah National Forest. Neither of us had ever been before so we didn't really know what to expect-- but we had a great day!

One of the last days of the summer was spent at the Black Mountain pool with Becky, Ande and Graham.

No idea why we took this picture.

Family date night to the Baked Pie Company.

Carson chose this one. Those are Fruity Pebbles in the crust. Oh my gross.

Dinner the night before the first day of school.

It is so nice having them back at the same school again.

Look at this! First day of preschool and first day of kindergarten. Be still my heart.
